Word is surf’s still up on the west coast, a groundswell is lingering. It’s not too late to bring in the new year on warmer water. Pictured: Seal Beach.

The only way to get through the winter is to start shopping for bikinis for that winter escape, in my case to Costa Rica (Liquid trip March 13-20, we still have spots open!). I’m always looking for a bargain on the bikinis I surf in so I don’t want to spend a lot. Delia’s has the best deals and the cutest styles. There are many for $9.99 so check it out, like this cute boy short pictured: www.delias.com

There I was cruising through Facebook this morning and an ad got my attention for vacation rentals at surf and snowboard destinations, it’s a good one for a change: www.solikai.com

An awesome last minute gift idea, a plane ticket to a surf destination on Jet Blue. For example, New York – Puerto Rico, New York – Dominican Republic or New York – Costa Rica. Happy Jetting indeed. Merry Christmas Eve.

Three shopping days left. A book is always a good inexpensive present. Let My People Go Surfing by Patagonia founder and owner Yvon Chouinard is a good read, especially for those (like myself) who want to make a living from their passion.

Give a magazine subscription for Christmas. It’s a great last minute gift idea, buy a current issue, wrap it and add a card. With subscription prices way down these days it’s an affordable gift that gives 12 months a year. Both magazines focus on wellness for the body, mind and soul, and your friend or loved one will know you really care.
